Adventures in Asia: Langkawi, Malaysia

As mentioned before, because of the lightning strike, Langkawi was an unexpected addition to the cruise itinerary. I remember when the captain first announced that we would be going to Langkawi, I was instantly puzzled and asked, “What’s that?” I had never heard of the island before and had no idea what there was to see and do there. Given how last-minute everything was, we decided to just minimize stress and book a tour with the ship, like we had done for every other port on this cruise so far. This is our first cruise in Asia and I’m finding that for many of the cruises, in order to reduce hassle, it’s easier to book a tour just because everything that you want to see is usually so far away from the port that the ship is docked out. Escape to Norway 2016- London Day 1

And that’s officially a wrap to my London/Norwegian vacation for this summer! The fjords absolutely took my breath away and all the land exploring we did certainly didn’t disappoint either. What did disappoint was definitely the weather. The cruise made 9 stops in Norway and it rained for pretty much 7 of the ports of call. To make things worse, it wasn’t just a little drizzle; it was sheets of rain, and often times, we walked back to the cruise ship completely soaked. However, despite the bad weather and all, I got to experience the real Norway: rain, cloudy skies, and cold temperatures. Everything was so serene, and the peace of being in the fjords was such a refreshing breath of air from all the stress of our lives. Oh hello, Mr. Sun

Sometimes, (or should I say most of the times), we are so swamped with work, daily responsibilities and chores, tasks, bills that need to be paid, homework and assignments that need to be done, floors that need to be cleaned- I think you’re getting the point. It clutters our minds to the point where we neglect everything else and focus solely on the next deadline or task that needs to be attended to. We’re so inundated with information, with chores, with everything. Reminders to do this, reminders to do that. Often times, we forget to really look up from our computers, our papers and our phones to appreciate the small things in life and really notice the details that typically go unseen.
