The 5-Year Journal

Hey everybody! Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year’s! I rang in 2016 on my cruise to the Panama Canal so stay tuned for those blog posts coming up!

For Christmas, my friend got me the Q&A a day Five Year Journal and I couldn’t be happier to share this with you guys. Last year, in February, I had my eye on this journal in the bookstore but I didn’t purchase it at the time because a month had already passed and I wanted to wait a year. I was ecstatic when I got it for a gift. If you feel like you’ve always wanted to keep a journal or just really love to write and reflect, this is perfect for you.

How it works basically is that for every day of the year, (they even include February 29th for leap years!) they pose a question. It can be something deep and serious such as, “What is your mission this year?” or it can be something funny and playful such as, “If you could have a superpower just for today, what would it be?”

Every day, you answer the questions. On each page, there are 5 blank sections to fill in your answer: one for every year. As the years pass, you can go back and reflect on how your answers have changed. One that is really interesting is the question asking who your closest friends are. Through the course of 5 years, you may realize how much things have changed. The name you wrote down 2 years ago might be your worst enemy now, who knows?

What I love about this journal is that it’s so easy to commit too. You’ll be spending maximum 15 minutes answering the daily question and it’s such a great way to really see how much you have changed and evolved through the years. Its size also makes it very portable and convenient!

My 2016 New Year’s resolution is definitely to stick to this journal. I definitely recommend it to you guys too! It makes a perfect gift for others… and for yourself!
