Candles, Peace and Tranquility

I love candles, always have. Nothing makes me happier than to curl up on my couch, grab a good book to read, light a candle and simply, de-stress. I always like to say that candles are a practical replacement to a fireplace. They’re a lot cheaper and you can use it as a heat or light source in practically any room. Not only do they provide a sense of warmth, but they also have a great smell to them (if you opt for the scented candles) I love debating between which scent to choose at the store. The candles I light always go along with the season. If it’s Fall, I’ll go for a pumpkin scent. If it’s winter, I’ll go for a marshmallow, candy cane or pine tree scent. If it’s spring or summer, I’ll choose a lighter and more tropical scent. I get all my candles from Bath and Body Works and what’s great about the store is that they ALWAYS have a huge variety of candles to choose from at a very reasonable price. Also, the scents they have always go hand in hand with the season. Their candle selection truly is the best I’ve ever seen.

I love to light a few candles while I read in the living room or even when I’m doing work at my desk. It fills the room up with whatever scent I chose, such as guava or lavender (my scent preference varies from time to time) It makes me feel so at ease when I watch the flames flicker back and forth and it makes the room feel a lot cozier because of the added warmth. Candles are especially perfect when it’s pouring and stormy outside (just like it is as I’m writing this post- good thing I have my candles with me!) Pair the candle with a nice steaming cup of tea and you’re set.

For safety purposes, I light my candles with a barbecue lighter, not a match or a cigarette lighter. The barbecue lighter has a long body, which is great so you don’t burn your fingers. They’re very cheap and can be found at any drugstore or supermarket, such as Walmart.

What are some of your favourite ways to de-stress, other than candles?

Thanks, after having read your post I decided to light a candle. I don’t have a scented candle right now only a red one but it will do. I used to lit incense sticks, I suppose that it has the same effect. I will probably start to do it again 🙂

That’s great! I definitely recommend going out to the shop to get more scented candles; they work wonders! 🙂 Glad to hear that!
